Ethereon’s Proof of Space and Time Consensus Algorithm
Ethereon - A New Era of Sustainable Blockchain Consensus
Ethereon’s Proof of Space and Time Consensus Algorithm
Ethereon employs a Proof of Space and Time (PoST) consensus model. Instead of relying on energy-hungry computations, it utilizes unused or over-allocated hard drive space for consensus purposes. The algorithm combines two key components:
Proof of Space (PoS):
This leverages available storage capacity to participate in the network, allowing anyone with excess hard drive space to contribute without consuming significant computational power.
Proof of Time (PoT):
Ensures that participants maintain honest behavior over time. It uses cryptographic techniques to verify the sequence of events in the blockchain, enhancing security and reducing the possibility of manipulation.
Benefits of PoST:
Energy Efficiency: Requires minimal energy compared to PoW.
Decentralization: More participants can join the network, as high computational power is not required.
Increased Security: With PoT added to the mix, the network ensures that time-based attacks or temporal vulnerabilities are minimized.
